Radiomir

The first Radiomir watch prototype was manufactured in 1936 for the Italian Navy and the watch went into production two years later. Today, the Radiomir collection still features the emblematic cushion-shaped case (47 mm and 45 mm), luminescent numerals and indexes, and a waterproof strap, sometimes in an extended version so it fits over the diving suit sleeve. Several years ago, Panerai presented the Radiomir 40, these models were inspired by the first Radiomir watch. Another feature that is so emblematic for Panerai, the sandwich dial, was also introduced to the Radiomir collection for the first time. The sandwich dial is made of two plates, the upper one, with indexes and numerals cut out, is fixed onto the bottom one covered with a luminescent layer.

Something more…

The Radiomir watch was worn by Italian army divers and later on, in the 1940s, by the Egyptian Navy too.

The representatives of the Egyptian Army required a case size of 60 mm – something almost unimaginable today – yet Officine Panerai watchmakers were more than able to meet such demands.

Collection highlight

The Radiomir 47 mm watch is powered by the brand’s own mechanical calibre P.3000 with a three-day power reserve that can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback. The watch’s attractive look is further enhanced by its Art Deco-style dial with large figures and a calf leather strap.

The Radiomir Black Seal 8 days, 45 mm, sports a more classic look. Its case is manufactured from polished hypoallergenic and anti-corrosive AISI 316L stainless steel which was developed by Panerai. The transparent sapphire crystal back case reveals a movement with a very impressive eight-day power reserve.
