The first Portugieser watches got their name after two Portuguese merchants who ordered them back in 1939. Reference 325 was powered by a hunter’s pocket watch movement, while the look of the purist dial drew inspiration from onboard instruments manufactured for the British Royal Navy. Today, the timepieces are powered by IWC’s in-house movements. This Portugieser features a 40.4 mm stainless steel case and has a power reserve of 60 hours. It is water-resistant to 30 m, has a see-through sapphire-glass back and a large off-centred seconds hand: all these attributes are characteristic of a classic model from the Portugieser family.
