Hampton

One of the oldest lines in Baume & Mercier's portfolio first appeared in its modern form in 1994, but the shape of the rectangular H-shaped model is based on watches the brand produced in the 1940s. The look of the Hampton watch is influenced by the Art Deco style and its typical simple lines combined with Arabic numerals. This is the design that speaks from all models with case sizes of 35, 43 and 48 mm. They impress with a convex sapphire crystal, and are available with a steel tension or crocodile leather strap.

The collection’s name evokes the atmosphere of a fabulous holiday in Hampton, much frequented by – not just – New York high society. It is also a reminder of that elusive summertime bliss when we just can’t get enough of swimming in the sea and walking through the warm sand.

Something more…

Art deco spread around Europe and America in the 1920s and 1930s, but it has not lost any of its currency today. The style left a dominant mark on everyday items and applied art combining glass, ceramics and chrome and it continues to be a source of inspiration for many watchmaking brands such as the famous Reverso collection of that other Swiss producer, Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Collection Highlight

Although by no means extensive, the Hampton range is kept very much alive by Baume & Mercier as the timeless watches are very popular amongst both women and men. Its shape is both original and classic at the same time. The most sought-after timepieces include the Hampton 10155, a watch in the largest case size – 47 × 31 mm – with a date display at 6 featuring an automatic movement, blue hands and a cool black leather strap.
