Montblanc 1858

In 1858, the H. & C. Robert company was founded in Villeret, Switzerland, later on it became known as Minerva. Since the Minerva acquisition in the early 2000s, Montblanc has changed its course. It is no longer simply a brand; it has become a traditional manufacture with a rich history and deep roots, ones it has fully adopted.

The Montblanc 1858 line is dedicated to the long history of Minerva and, in its own highly original way, interprets the manufacture’s pioneering watches and chronographs from the 1920s and 1930s as these had all been adapted to the extremely demanding requirements of mountain climbers’ expeditions. The collection includes extremely reliable chronographs, limited edition collector’s pieces as well as timepieces with the innovative GMT function with the distinctive two globes.

Something more…

Despite its relatively recent arrival onto the luxury watches market, Montblanc fully respects the centuries-old tradition of manufacturing and the outstanding history of the Minerva manufacture.

Today, the Montblanc development centre is housed in the same building in which the H. & C. Robert company was founded. It’s here that the development and testing of the in-house movements for Montblanc watches take place.

Collection highlight

One of the most popular watches since its introduction in 2018, the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere honours the heroes of mountain climbing and is dedicated to the Seven Summits Challenge.

The dial features a map of the world with the position of the seven peaks marked with red dots. The timepiece features an innovative world-time complication: two domed globes turning in opposite directions, making it possible to read the time in different time zones. The timepiece is powered by the MB 29.25 movement with a 42-hour reserve.
